ABOUT CORONAVIRUS
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a highly infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The first case of this disease was seen in Wuhan, China in December 2019. More than 1.08 million deaths and 37.6 million cases are now confirmed. The current outbreak of this disease was officially recognised as a pandemic by the WHO (World Health Organization) on 11 March 2020.
Symptoms:
COVID-19 affects different people in many ways. Most of the patient will develop mild to moderate illness and also recover without hospitalization.
Most common symptoms are fever, dry cough, tiredness, sore throat, diarrhoea, aches, pains, headache, loss of taste and smell etc.
There also some serious symptoms like- difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath, chest pain, loss of speech or movement.
If you have the serious symptoms then you need immediate medical attention.
Prevention:
If you want to prevent infection and to slow transmission of COVID-19, do the following properly:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol-based handwash.
- Stay home if you feel unwell.
- Maintain social distancing rules.
- Avoid touching your face.
- Cover your mouth and nose whenever you go outside.
- Stop smoking.
- Eat healthy food and immunity boosters.
- Avoid gathering.

Some micronutrients like- Vitamin D, Vitamin C and Zinc are critical for a well-functioning immune system. And the fact is Vitamin and mineral supplements cannot cure COVID-19.
Hydroxychloroquine does not have clinical benefits against COVID-19: this medicine is accepted for some autoimmune diseases like Malaria and Typhoid. Without medical supervision, taking this medicine can cause serious side effects in COVID-19.
People should not wear masks while exercising: Masks may reduce the ability to breathe comfortably. Sweat can make a mask wet quickly which promotes the growth of microorganisms.
Leave your shoes at your doorstep: particularly in homes where infants and small children used to crawl and play on the floor. Consider leaving your shoes at your entrance, it will help prevent contact with dirt or any waste that could be carried with your shoes.
Corona is a virus, not a bacteria: Corona is not a bacteria so antibiotics do not work against viruses. Some people who become ill with COVID-19 can also develop a bacterial infection. In this case, Antibiotics may be recommended by a doctor or any healthcare provider.
The real truth of surgical masks: If you are wearing a surgical mask make sure it fits properly. Do not use reuse a medical or surgical mask and always change it as soon as it gets damp.
Most people who get COVID-19, recover from it: if you have mild or mid COVID-19 symptoms then don’t worry, you can recover from it with the care of the supportive team. If you have fever and you belong to malaria or dengue affected area, then you should take medical care immediately.
Drinking Alchohol does not protect you against COVID-19: Drinking alcohol increases your risk of health problems. Don’t listen to the rumours and stay away from drinking alcohol.
COVID-19 is not transmitted through insects: there is no evidence to prove that COVID-19 transmitted through mosquitoes and house flies.
Do not drink Methanol, Ethanol and bleach: Drinking bleach, ethanol, methanol etc. does not prevent COVID-19 and can be very dangerous to your health. It can cause sudden death.
Exposing yourself to the sun does not protect you: COVID-19 does not depend on the weather. It will affect you no matter what weather it is. So, don’t expose yourself to the sun or the temperatures higher than 25 degree.
Stay out from stupid rumours: If you are able to hold your breath for 10 seconds or more without coughing or feeling discomfort, it does not mean you are free from coronavirus disease or any disease related to lungs.
Hand dryers can’t kill Coronavirus.
Taking a hot bath does not prevent coronavirus disease.
Ultraviolet rays shouldn’t be used to disinfect human body parts. It causes skin cancer.
There is no medicine to prevent COVID-19.
Coronavirus Vaccine Update:
A vaccine typically requires years of research and testing before reaching the clinic. Worldwide researchers are working around the clock to find a perfect vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19 virus). According to some research institute, a fast-tracked vaccine could come to market from the end of 2020 to the middle of 2021.
Just one coronavirus vaccine has been approved till now. Sputnik V – formerly known as Gam-COVID-Vac that is developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute in Moscow. This vaccine was approved by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation on 11 August 2020.

Coronavirus and World GDP:
In the year 2020, the economic damage already represents the largest economic shock the world has experienced in decades. The baseline shows envision a 5.2 percent contraction in global GDP in 2020. This pandemic decreases the growth of almost every country. After collapsing almost an entire year, economy output recovery swiftly following the easing of measures to contain the COVID 19 pandemic and the initial opening of businesses. Small entrepreneurs have lost their confidence during this pandemic. Restoration of confidence will be crucial to how economics can recover successfully, and for this firstly we need to learn to safely live with Coronavirus.
What Should Government do to Recover Confidence again?
- The government should invest in health. Besides growing of GDP it helps to control the virus.
- Invest in green recovery, infrastructure, transport and housing to speed up the low carbon transition.
- Invest in people, ensure opportunities, improving education, training of new types of work.
- Invest in a small and local business. It will help small entrepreneurs to grow and help to make local brands popular.
- Invest in digitalisation. In this situation digitalization is the safest way to prevent this pandemic. Cashless transactions and work from home is the perfect example of digitalization.
